Greek Sea Buckthorn (Evros,Thrace)

( 1 Review )

The word ancient Greek word Hippophaes (pronounced "e-pof-i-es"), means “bright horse”. This amazing native herb earned its moniker back in the days of Alexander the Great, from the reviving effects it had when he and his men would feed it to horses that were wounded in battle. Fast forward 2300 hundred years, and Greeks revere it for its powerful antioxidants and many health properties. It is most commonly known outside of Greece as Sea Buckthorn, Sallowthorn or Seaberry. It is no wonder that the horses benefitted from consuming the herb, it is a superfood, Klio Organic Hippophaes Tea is naturally caffeine free and contains a broad array of nutrients and phyto-nutrients, including Omega 3,6,7 and 9, Ellagic acid, Pantothenic acid, Folic acid, Quercetin, Riboflavin, Pyrdoxamine and Cyanocobalamin. It has an ORAC 5.0 antioxidant value of 6,800 and 127mg of polyphenols, per serving. Tests conducted by Brunswick Labs. Herbalists believe the plant has many health properties, including positive effects on blood pressure, cholesterol, vascular diseases, immunity and a variety of skin conditions. The herbal infusion made with Sea Buckhorn leaves has a beautiful dark amber tone with an earthy, somewhat vegetal flavor - perhaps a cross between the flavor of traditional black tea (without the bitterness) and rooibos tea. Our organic Hippophaes (come on – you can say it!), comes from Evros, Northern Greece, where the Evros River meets the northern Aegean Sea.

I have tried three different herbal teas from Kilo and I am a very satisfied customer. I have over the years bought and tried lots of different herbal teas and always end up not finishing the box.I just kind of get bored or just don't feel drawn to the product. Not so with these. They are excellent. I have tried the Mountain tea, Lemon Verbena, and of course the Sea Buckthorn. I don't have a favorite. They are all top shelf and I look as forward to my pot of daily tea as I do for my morning coffee. Most folks reading this will know what that means. Good stuff, don't miss out, all get 5 stars, order some you won't regret it. Also customer service could not be better and there honey is the best I have ever tasted.
